At this moment, more than 10 years after the Digital Versatile Disk (DVD) has been released, and after DVD drives were successfully used in many computers, developers had programmed an endless number of DVD players for computer systems. What do they do different from the household players? Mmmh not big enough, they play de DVD's don't they?
I would say, that the only advantage a user can get from a DVD player software, is that, since it runs on a PC (windows, linux, mac) it can be helped by some tools which modify how the dvd is played.
In this case, Herosoft DVD has some tools that can make the DVD watching-experience better. Within the se features I can mention:
Surrounding Technology. The developer claims that the user can experience the 5.1 channel surround with only a 2.1 system. I played some concerts and they perform well, but, since I've never heard a 6.1 system, I can not tell you if it sounds well or not ;)
Soft Line-connection Technology. This is nice, by only dragging some icons, you can hear as if you were moving physically the speaker.
SDTS Digital Surround Decoder. This technology processes non SDTS
digital audio, which can upgrade the number of channels played, improving sound quality.
Background playing feature, From all the features this program has, this is the one that I liked most. You can have a movie playing in the background and you can keep up with your work.
So, In sum, is like having a DVD player with surround system, in your computer... You can save some bucks if you have a laptop and a 2.1 speaker system.
